Online Hub Educational Services, Africa Code Week, CS Professional Development 2018: Call for Volunteers!

Recall that Online Hub Educational Services in partnership with Cape Town Science Centre with support from Google, and a host of other partners will be hosting Africa Code Week 2018 to empower 500 Teachers and 25, 000 Learners in Ogun State through our #OneStudentOneSkill ongoing initiative born out of the need for Students to become skilled, employable and self reliant in the Nigerian ecosystem.

Africa Code Week is a digital skills development initiative that has benefitted 1.8 million young Africans so far and aims at instilling digital literacy and coding skills in the young generation, working closely with private, public and non-profit partners to drive sustainable learning impact across Africa.

This year 2018 will be an exciting year as Africa Code Week shifts into the second gear from igniting the continent and raising awareness of the importance of digital education to sustaining the impact of the programme through capacity-building efforts.

In this light, for us at Online Hub Educational Services, we are training 500 Teachers and reaching 25,000 Learners in Ogun State, Nigeria – on the rudiments of Coding & Programming using Google CS-First and Computer Science (CS) Unplugged for the Africa Code Week 2018.

To drive more impact as well as the continuous Professional Development of teachers (especially Computer Science and other STEM related subjects) in the South West region of Nigeria, particularly in Ogun State; we’re introducing about four thousand (4,000) Computer Science Teachers (after the ACW TTT session) on the delivery of Computer Science Education, introducing them to Best Practices and improved Content Delivery in five (5) identified fields of Computer Science.

But great as this sound, we can’t achieve all this alone. That’s why OnlineHubNG is looking for outstanding volunteers to join us to make impacts in our community of practice.

The volunteers will be our first and primary contact for the projects. Their critical roles will centre around welcoming participants, fostering a spirit of helpfulness and hospitality, among others.

Areas of volunteering include:

  • Photography
  • Videography
  • Social Media Influencer
